I've decided to start telling you about one of the tasks I do most in my job. That is, travelling. Last October I went on a trip to Alberta. That's why today I'm going to tell you about my impressions of the optical world in Calgary.
“Calgary, the perfect place to escape reality.”
Optics through the eyes of Calgary
During my stay in Calgary, I not only explored the dazzling landscapes and vibrant cultural scene, but I also delved into the world of optics in the heart of the city. Opticians' shops and optometrists' offices added a distinctive touch to each of their optical offices, bringing a clear and stylish vision to my discovery of the city. Of course, you could find all the usual major chains. But the difference and the real experience were in the independent offices. As soon as I entered one of these offices, I could feel the difference. The difference was visible when looking at the inventory, and through my welcome experience.
Innovative Optical Stores
Calgary's neighbourhoods are full of avant-garde optical shops, offering an eclectic selection of frames that blend functionality and style. Whether you're looking for elegant sunglasses to stroll through downtown or prescription glasses that reflect your creativity, local opticians are ready to guide you through an assortment of unique designs and original brands. Most of these points of sale have not focused their energies on a non-essential point like having the largest inventory or the widest choice. The points of sale that achieve success are those that take the time to listen to the needs of their customers to adapt their products to their needs. They are also not afraid to use new technologies to ensure the proper functioning of their optical office. Many of these offices quickly understood that technology can often be a loyal and ever-present employee.
For them, optics is not just about selling glasses.
My exploration also extended to Calgary's optometrist offices, where attentive professionals explained to me how they like to take care of eye health. From in-depth eye exams to personalized advice on choosing lenses or frames, the expertise of independent optometrists was a point I greatly appreciated. For them, their patients are not just an appointment, but a long-term relationship to establish. They even have the right to sell facial care products, which is greatly appreciated by their clientele. I really liked seeing this new variety of complementary products offered for eye care, a situation that certainly had to help with the professionals' end-of-month finances.
Style and trends in optics
Calgary, as a young and creative city, offers a harmonious fusion of style and trends in the world of optics. Opticians' and optometrists' offices embody this balance, combining avant-garde designs with cutting-edge eye care solutions. The ability to find glasses that are not only functional, but also reflect the unique personality of each individual is a mission for everyone who will take care of your optical experience in Calgary. All the new trends were present on the shelves. Not a shape, not a colour was missing from their selection, which greatly impressed me. I really liked their approach, their attitude, they took the time to listen to their clientele, which allowed them to always offer a selection of frames adapted to their needs. Without ever hesitating to suggest something that would take them out of their comfort zone.
It's not just about optics, there's culture and restaurants too.
Of course, spending several days in this city meant I had to eat well. In fact, for those who don't know, it's even my second passion. So I toured the city in search of several experiences. However, I kept two places in mind: Ranchman's Grill and The Bank & Bridge Brewin. These two places are completely different. The Bank & Bridge Brewin will offer you a large selection of local beers, accompanied by an appetizing menu, which is a guaranteed success every time for you and your group of friends. While Ranchman's is for lovers of country culture. You can enjoy an excellent piece of Alberta beef there. But what makes this place magical and unforgettable are the country evenings, where you can see country dancing or live music every week. Which I greatly enjoyed doing accompanied by my glass of whiskey.
In short, my trip to Calgary was not only a visual adventure through its spectacular landscapes, but also the discovery of new working methods, trends, or demands that I had not seen before. This inspired me for your new models in the 2024 collection.
